Current Form I-485, Adjustment of Status (Green Card) Application, Processing Times in Detroit, Michigan

The current processing time for most family-based adjustment of status applications that I am assisting clients with is around 3 months. What this means is that if you reside in Michigan and apply for lawful permanent resident status/green card (e.g., you marry a US citizen), I am seeing that it is only taking around 3 months from filing until you are interviewed at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Detroit District Office for your green card application. I say “only” because in the past it has easily taken a year or more until the interview was scheduled.

This does not mean that every case I see gets an interview within 3 months from filing, but I am seeing that if the applications are initially filed properly then most are currently being scheduled around the 3 month mark. It is also important to keep in mind that these processing times are always changing, and this is just what I am seeing as of late August, 2009.

If you would like assistance with applying for a green card, please call our office at 313-963-2505 .
