The current processing time for most Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, cases that I am assisting clients with is around 3-4 months. What this means is that if you reside in Michigan and apply for United States citizenship, I am seeing that it is only taking 3 – 4 months from filing until you are interviewed at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Detroit District Office for your citizenship exam. I say “only” because in the past it has easily taken over a year until the interview was scheduled.

This does not mean that every case I see gets an interview within 4 months from filing, but I am seeing that most are. It is also important to keep in mind that these processing times are always changing, and this is just what I am seeing as of late August, 2009.
